NARFE Net/GEMS Information

If you are a member of NARFE and you cannot attend meetings regularly, then “NARFE Net” and/or “GEMS” is the answer for you. It is the perfect way for you to keep up to the minute on what is going on in NARFE.

MN NARFE Net is used to communicate information within the State of Minnesota. GEMS is used by NARFE HQ to send information to Chapters/Members all over the United States and certain other areas. They are both great resources and offer up-to-date information concerning NARFE issues. You will need to register with both entities.

How to register:

For GEMS:

If you are a NARFE member, access your member record on the HQ Web Site Home Page at www.narfe.org. Here is how to do that:

Click on “Member Sign In”;

Enter “Last Name”, tab to “Member ID #”, enter number and Click “Sign On” button;

This will bring up a new Home page with a welcome message to you;

Click on the “Membership Tools” button, Click on the “Update Your Record”;

The page that comes up next says “Change your address with NARFE on-line today!” and continues with “Update or add your email address to receive GEMS (Global Electronics Messaging System)”;

Now enter your “Member ID #”, tab to the “Birthdate” fields and enter appropriate data, tabbing between fields, click on the “Submit” button;

This brings up your data record, complete appropriate fields (including your email address) and click the submit button.

This will register you in the GEMS network. If you cannot access the HQ Web Site, email them at memsrvs@narfe.org, or call HQ at 1-800-456-8410 to have your email address added.

For MN NARFE Net:

To get on the MN NARFE Net mailing list, please contact our MN NARFE Net Coordinator at raneider@brainerd.net and request that you be put on the MN mailing list. Please provide name, email address, Chapter name and number.

Important notes: If you change your email address after registering, be sure to remember to up date your member record at NARFE HQ website for the GEMS mailing list and send an email to raneider@brainerd.net to update the MN NARFE Net mailing list.

Also, once you are on the mailing lists, please try to keep room in your mailbox for new mail. We currently get rejected mail messages that indicate that a mailbox is full. After several attempts to send you the mail, the Mail Program will automatically remove you from the mailing list. If you get notices that mail has not been delivered due to your mailbox being full, try to get your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to increase the size of your mailbox.
